On Black Friday, relax at Switzkill Farm

To the Editor:
This year, instead of getting up at the crack of dawn and heading to the crowded stores on Black Friday, let me suggest an alternative. Pack up some of those Thanksgiving leftovers and head for some relaxing fun at Switzkill Farm.

Don’t know your way around the property? We have folks who can guide you and explain some of what you’re looking at as well. Enjoy a picnic overlooking the Catskill Mountains.

As the sunlight starts to diminish, it’s time to head to the bonfire to warm up where you will be entertained by some terrific musicians. Then experience the power of a drum circle led by one of the region’s most skilled percussionists.

Topping off the evening will be Berne’s own Kathy Stempel who will share some stories as folks enjoy hot chocolate, cider, and s’mores around the fire. The event goes from 2 until 6.

All are welcome and there is no charge. If weather does not cooperate, the event will be postponed until Saturday, Dec. 4.  For more information, please check out the Berne Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

So, dress warmly, bring your favorite chair if you wish, and enjoy a truly unique outdoor experience.
