$50,000 VOTED FOR
CO. SNOW REMOVAL
The Albany County Board of Supervisors Wednesday voted to add $50,000 to the county budget for this year for snow removal on the main traveled highways of the county next winter. The money is to be expended at the direction of the board in conjunction with H. Hensall Bates of Rensselaerville, county superintendent of highways, and a special committee of the board to be appointed at the next meeting.
Much credit for the successful passage of the resolution is due to the efforts of a special committee of the Chamber of Commerce. The committee has labored diligently for several weeks to arouse public sentiment in favor of the project.
Buildings and Cattle Were
Burned; Loss Is $33,000
FIre swept through the barn and adjoining buildings on the farm of Miller brothers at Selkirk Sunday night, causing a total loss of $33,000.
Twenty-five thoroughbred cows, a prize bull valued at $1,500, and 10 horses were burned to death, and two carloads of grain, valued at $3,000, were destroyed. The barn was valued at $15,000.
A dog discovered the fire and barked, alarming people in the house, which was the only building to escape the flames. There is no fire protection in Selkirk. Farmers in Kenwood, nine miles away, saw the reflection of the flames.
Having no place to house the 12 cows that escaped the fire, Miller brothers will hold an auction next Wednesday at 1 o’clock near Grange hall, Becker’s Corners. Six of these cows are pure bred registered Holsteins.

REIDSVILLE
— A party of men from Albany accompanied by P. J. Zeh of Camp Pinnacle and Stanton Van Deusen took a trip to Long Lake North Woods on a hunting expedition last week. One deer was shot and divided at their camp in the mountains. They intended to stay until the 15th, the close of the hunting season, but by accident Jay Zeh shot one finger off of his left hand. He was taken to Tupper Lake hospital, where the remains of his finger was amputated. The party broke up and they all returned Sunday.
