James L. Vecellio

KNOX — James L. Vecellio, known to his family and friends as Jim, died quietly at his home on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015. He was 79.

Mr. Vecellio was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania to Julia (née Pingie) Vecellio and Joseph Valentino Vecellio on July 12, 1936. He went to high school in Bradford and graduated in 1954. He entered the Army in 1955 and served in the 3rd Armor Division in Germany.

He worked at Hanley Brick Company in Lewis Run, Pennsylvania and later at Air Products & Chemicals in Glenmont. Upon retirement, he worked at Hannaford Supermarket in Guilderland.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and mowing on his riding tractor. He loved his dogs, Juneau, Dawson, and Cody.

Jim is survived by his wife Connie (née Seybert) Vecellio of Knox; his daughter, Nina (née Vecellio) Webb, and his son-in-law Jamie Webb of Sloansville, New York; his granddaughters, Julia Robson and Bailey Webb; his brother, Larry Vecellio from Gainesville, Georgia; his sisters-in-law Marilyn, Gail, and Barbara Vecellio; and his nieces and nephews Mike, Julie, Tim, Lori, David, Jeff, Tracey, Larry Jr., Marc, and Jason.

His parents, Julia and Joseph Vecellio, who had lived in Lewis Run, Pennsylvania, died before him as did his brothers, Ernie Vecellio, who has lived in Bradford, Pennsylvania, Dick Vecellio who had lived in Lewis Run, Pennsylvania, and Ron Vecellio who had lived in Gifford, Pennsylvania.

He wished to be cremated and will be laid to rest with family at a later date. No services will be held.

His family extends its gratitude to Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont. “We also extend a special thank you to his devoted friends, Ken B., John W., Cindy P., the Dialysis Center and A & N Transportation,” he family wrote.
