Palow should have followed the law

To the Editor:

There is a lot of finger-pointing going on in the town of Berne related to its fiscal responsibilities and the financial data that was, or was not, shared with the town board.

It was nice to read that Supervisor [Dennis] Palow understands the New York State Open Meetings Law. However, if the supervisor adhered to the law much of the infighting might have been avoided.

The Open Meetings Law requires that all the documents to be discussed at a board meeting be posted no less than 24 hours prior to the meeting. Had the law been followed we all would have seen what was included in the board packet.
