Arts Around Greenville hosting small-works holiday events
HILLTOWNS — Arts Around Greenville — a local arts initiative under the Community Partners of Greenville umbrella — is hosting a series of events at the Greenville Public Library this month and next that highlight small, for-sale works created by local artists.
The events will feature 17 local artists, including Natalie Boburka, who began Arts Around Greenville; Tammy Liu-Haller, from Westerlo; and Bente Hirsch, from Medusa.
“They have a range of work in a variety of mediums from abstract collages to local plein air scenes in watercolor, pastel, and oil paint,” Boburka told The Enterprise this week.
The work will typically be less than 12 inches in width and “shown with a gift-giving budget in mind,” she said.
All the artists are expected to attend the opening reception on Nov. 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Greenville Public Library, where there will also be refreshments. They’ll be “able to answer questions about processes, ideas, other work available, and commissions,” Boburka said.
Between three and five of the artists will host each of the subsequent events, which will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 12, 19, 24, and 26, and on Dec. 16.
The gallery will also be open if requested at the front desk of the library.
When a work is purchased, Boburka said, a new piece will replace it, creating an “ever-evolving” show.
