Join the Howliday Pet Pawrade

To the Editor:

As we begin to think about the holidays, I hope you’ll consider joining us for this year’s Altamont Festival of Lights. This year, the Altamont Community Tradition celebration will again host a Howliday Pet Pawrade, and you are invited to take part.

You and your pets are invited to dress in your best holiday wear (holiday-themed, lit up, or ugly holiday sweaters encouraged) and strut your stuff through our pet-friendly village. Dogs, cats, chickens, fish, no pet is excluded.

No pets? Tag along with your kids (as we all know, kids in costume make for great parades). This year, donations of pet food/needs will be collected to support local pet owners in need.

On Sunday, Dec. 13, we’ll meet and line up at St. John's Lutheran Church, at 140 Maple Ave., at 1:45 p.m. Our parade will be at 2 p.m, led by bagpiper John Scally, who will lead along our parade route.

Last year, we had a visit from Santa Paws and his fabulous Reindog; perhaps this year we’ll see a gingerdog man, daschund through the snow!

All social pets are welcome; a leash, pet carrier, or pet stroller is a must. We will parade on the village sidewalks for safety.

Hope you can join in, and make your Victorian Holiday purrfect! Contact to let us know who’s coming, and allow us to contact you regarding any last-minute changes or developments.
