Hats off to Coach Kinnally, Guilderland’s one-man economic development machine

To the Editor:

At a recent Guilderland boys; soccer game, I heard parents complaining about Coach Mike Kinnally’s lack of organization. It got me thinking that A) Parents are never happy, and B) Mike Kinnally has done a lot for our community, with little to no credit.

Some of his successes include that he:

— Established the Guilderland Soccer Club, which generates over $600,000 a year for the town of Guilderland at DiCaprio Park. The program serves over 1,200 children, many of them from Guilderland The program runs several tournaments that bring thousands of people to town annually;

— Owns the Crossbar Soccer Academy, which provides summer-camp opportunities;

— Saved the Guilderland Youth Soccer league by offering a free recreation program;

— Is an owner of the Beef Jerky Outlet, one of the fastest growing franchises in the United States and a major sponsor of the FC Dutchmen Soccer Club.

He manages all of this while still being an outstanding social studies teacher at Guilderland High School and coaching varsity soccer. Hats off to Coach Kinnally. He is Guilderland’s one-man economic development machine! Keep up the great work, Coach.
