Doing what is best for the residents of Berne has always been at the forefront
To the Editor:
I have been honored to serve as the Berne town supervisor for the past 13-plus years and I ask for your support on Nov. 7.
The town of Berne has made great strides during my time as supervisor. We have a transfer station, new library, senior center, community center, Switzkill Farm, County Access office, playground, and much more — all of which are debt free.
Berne hamlet residents have a new sewer district to protect their drinking water and all of our water downstream. We have more than $1 million in highway-department improvements, including a new salt shed and equipment — all of which are debt free.
In addition to these and many other improvements and increased services, Berne property taxes have been cut for five years in a row, including a 4-percent cut in 2018.
Working in partnership with our other elected officials, including Congressman [Paul] Tonko, Senator [George] Amedore, Assemblymember [Angelo] Santabarbara, County Executive [Daniel] McCoy, and Sheriff [Craig] Apple, I have secured more than $3 million in grant funding to support the many new and enhanced services and equipment while cutting taxes and secure financial bottom line.
Doing what is best for the residents of Berne has always been at the forefront of everything I do.
I have been honored to serve as your Berne town supervisor and I ask for your support on Nov. 7. Together we can continue to make Berne the wonderful community that it is.
