Please be advised that the Town of Westerlo Town Board will hold a PUBLIC HEARING on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Westerlo Town Hall located at 933 County Route 401, Westerlo to discuss whether the Town Board should override the limit on the amount of real property taxes that may be levied by the Town of Westerlo, County of Albany to adopt a town budget for (a) town purposes (b) fire protection districts and (c) any other special or improvement district governed by the town board for the fiscal year 2018 that requires a real property tax levy in excxess of the “tax levy limit” as defined by General Municpal Law section 3-c.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Trustees of the Village of Altamont, County of Albany, State of New York, invites and will receive sealed bids at the Village Office located at 115 Main Street, PO Box 643, Altamont, NY, at or before the hour of 3:30 PM on October 27, 2017, for the village’s surplus equipment of 1996 Pierce Saber Heavy Rescue Unit. Equipment is to be sold in “as is” condition with no warranties expressed written or otherwise implied. Minimum bid amount of $70,000 is required.

Sealed bids will be received and recorded by the Village Clerk. Any bid received after 3:30 PM on October 27, 2017 will be returned to the point of origin unopened. Bidders assume all risks for timely, properly submitted deliveries. E-mail bid submissions are not acceptable and will not be considered.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING

BERNE-KNOX-WESTERLO CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, pursuant to a resolution adopted by the Board of Education of the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School District (the “District”) on September 7, 2017, a special meeting of the qualified voters of the District be and the same is hereby called to be held on November 2, 2017 from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. prevailing time in in the auditorium of the Berne-Knox Westerlo High School, 1738 Helderberg Trail, Berne, New York:

PROPOSITION #1

Shall the Board of Education of the Berne-Knox Westerlo Central School District be authorized to: (1) reconstruct various District buildings and facilities, including site work, and acquire original furnishings, equipment, machinery or apparatus required for the purpose for which such buildings and facilities are to be used, at a maximum aggregate cost of $14,800,000.; (2) expend such sum for such purposes; (3) expend $2,000,000. from the Capital Reserve Fund; (4) levy the necessary tax therefore, to be levied and collected in annual installments in such years and in such amounts as may be determined by the Board of Education, taking into account state aid and the amount expended from the Capital Reserve Fund; and (5) in anticipation of the collection of such tax, issue bonds and notes of the District at one time or from time to time in the principal amount not to exceed $12,800,000. and levy a tax to pay interest on said obligations when due?

PROPOSITION #2

If Proposition #1 is approved by the voters, shall the Board of Education of the Berne-Knox Westerlo Central School District be authorized to: (1) perform additional reconstruction work primarily at the High School and at other various District buildings and facilities, including site work, and acquire original furnishings, equipment, machinery or apparatus required for the purpose for which such buildings and facilities are to be used, at a maximum aggregate cost of $5,000,000.; (2) expend such sum for such purposes; (3) levy the necessary tax therefore, to be levied and collected in annual installments in such years and in such amounts as may be determined by the Board of Education, taking into account state aid; and (4) in anticipation of the collection of such tax, issue bonds and notes of the District at one time or from time to time in the principal amount not to exceed $5,000,000. and levy a tax to pay interest on said obligations when due?

The hours during which the polls shall be kept open shall be from 6 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. prevailing time or for as long thereafter as necessary to enable qualified voters who are in the polling place at 8:00 p.m. to cast their ballots.  Any person shall be entitled to vote who is: (a) a citizen of the United States, (b) at least eighteen years of age at the time of the vote and (c) a resident within the District for a period of thirty days preceding the November 2, 2017 vote.

Absentee ballots may be applied for at office of the District Clerk, Berne-Knox Westerlo High School, 1738 Helderberg Trail, Berne, New York.  Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days prior to the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or on or prior to November 1, 2017, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter.  Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m. on November 2, 2017.  A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available for inspection by any qualified voter of the District in the Office of the Clerk of the District between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. during the five days prior to the day of the vote.  Any qualified voter may challenge the acceptance of the ballot of any person on such list, by making his or her challenge and reasons therefor known to the Inspector of Election before the close of the polls.
