A town election is not a popularity contest

To the Editor:
I am writing in response to the upcoming election in the town of Westerlo. I usually don’t get involved in politics, but this year seems especially important as there is a lot of information going around.

That being said, I would like to cast my support for Amie Burnside and Matt Kryzak. In my opinion I have not seen our town in this position since I have lived here.

The parks are being upgraded; new playground equipment is soon to be installed. The town finances are in the best shape they have been in years.

I realize that people like to vote for their friends but truthfully this is not a popularity contest; it’s our lives and our money.

This year’s tentative budget shows under 1-percent of a tax increase. Those are the things that are important to my family and me.
