Porter is committed to conservation

To the Editor:

I am writing in support of Fran Porter’s candidacy for Albany County Legislature. For the last 30-plus years, Fran has lived and raised a family in Altamont.

During these years, Fran has worked in leadership roles in statewide programs that are designed to help children and the elderly, the most vulnerable members of our communities. She has also worked to support those seeking employment.

She has the qualifications and experience to be immediately effective as a vocal advocate for the people she represents in the legislature.

Fran is endorsed by the New York League of Conservation Voters. This organization is nonpartisan and is committed to moving us forward in the fight for clean air and water, open space and renewable energy.

We need to take action now, to preserve the planet as best we can for our children and grandchildren. In addition to doing what we can as individuals, we should support candidates who are committed to this cause.

As John Audubon reminded us, “A true conservationist knows that the world is not given by his fathers, but borrowed from his children and grandchildren.”

I worked with Fran on a New York State Senate campaign and was impressed with her thorough knowledge of local issues. She is a tireless worker and a great organizer. She is warm, welcoming, and a good listener who will hear the concerns of those she represents. She is a person who will speak up to achieve those concerns.

Please vote for Fran Porter in District 31, which includes Guilderland Center, Altamont, and parts of Knox and Berne.
