Michelle can respond to local needs in real time

To the Editor:

Michelle Hinchey is running to represent District 46 in the New York State Senate. As a candidate, she has already proven that she can respond to local needs in real time.

Last spring, when the pandemic put conventional campaigning on hold, Michelle quickly shifted from political outreach to COVID-19 resource. She and her staff assembled a comprehensive guide covering everything from small-business loans and home-education resources to food assistance and aid for senior citizens.

Michelle recognizes infrastructure failures that isolate rural families, and she has a plan to push for expansion of high-speed internet into underserved areas. She consistently shows up for local issues: a struggling post office, overused community trails, Lyme disease education — the list goes on.

Michelle’s plans also look to the future. She anticipates issues that we can address now, like supporting green energy and job-creating infrastructure to help us avoid the worst effects of climate change, or reimagining the Hudson River waterfront to support business and create public space in areas that will be prone to flooding.

Michelle Hinchey is the kind of engaged, responsive leader we need representing us in Albany. Please vote on November 3!
