You’re invited to Spooky Museum Tours in Berne

Spooky appetizers are part of the fun at the Berne Historical Society’s rooms of history, decorated for Halloween.

To the Editor:

We’ve done it before and we’re doing it again. You are cordially invited to visit the Berne Historical Society’s Spooky Museum Tours. Get into the spirit for bewitching surprises in Berne’s rooms of history.

The building housing our 47-year-old museum used to be a hotel with a tavern to boot. It is believed by some that remains of a huge mirror resting behind the bar lives in dusty solitude amongst the lower sanctum. Perhaps ghosts hang out in the mirror’s reflections remembering the tavern’s lively meetings of ale and laughter.

Spooky Museum Tours at the Berne Museum on Sunday, Oct. 29, revs up at 4 and lasts till 6 p.m. Located one flight up from the Berne Town Hall offices, the museum’s rooms are decorated in Halloween style.

One week hence, following in the footsteps of the ghostly encounters at the museum will be a Candlelight Cemetery Walk at Woodlawn Cemetery. Encounter a few personalities from Berne's past as Kathy Stempel revives this popular program on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 6:30 p.m.

May your curiosity bring you out of the house and into the wonderings of some of Berne's madcap past.

Thank you and enjoy a howling grand day!
