The Lost Radio Rounders will present “Songs America Voted By (1840-1940)” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, at the Wyman Osterhout Community Center in New Salem at 7 The Old New Salem Road.

To the Editor:

Two days before the 2024 Presidential Election Day, the popular local group, Lost Radio Rounders, will present a rousing musical program of campaign songs from the days before radio, television, and social media.

They will take us back to the Election Days of yesteryear when presidential campaigns often wrote politically charged lyrics to popular songs of the day, praising that campaign’s candidate while vilifying its opponents.

Although at once both bolstering and infuriating — depending on one’s political opinions — through the insulating lens of over 84 years of history, the Rounders take us on a more lighthearted journey through the barrages of past political races.

The Lost Radio Rounders is made up of multi-talented musicians Tom Lindsay, Michael Eck, and Paul Jossman. Specializing in and researching many facets of American history and music, they always provide an uplifting experience.

Come join us for this tuneful and robust program at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, at the Wyman Osterhout Community Center in New Salem at 7 The Old New Salem Road.

Admission is always free.

The New Scotland Historical Association Museum will be open for a half-hour before the program.
