Rail trail to close at Bender Melon Farm for bridge work

NEW SCOTLAND — Starting on Wednesday, Oct. 25, the part of Albany County’s rail trail near the Bender Melon Farm Preserve bridge in New Scotland will be closed periodically over the next six weeks.
This will be required while restoration work on the bridge continues, including replacing the decking, according to a release from the county’s Department of Public Works, which is doing the work.

Working hours for this will be from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each weekday until the work is complete. Full closures of the Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail, which stretches nine miles from Albany to Voorheesville, will be minimized to the extent possible, the release said.
