The grim reaper, batwoman, and a princess were in the parade
To the Editor:
The Boo-Bash Spook-tacular was an incredible success last Saturday. And where was this great event? At Berne’s Switzkill Farm Park of course.
Well over 100 people attended, counting both kids and parents. The costume parade consisted of about 50 young participants dressed for the occasion in costumes as scary witches, butterflies, spooky monsters, spiderman, vampires, and space creatures.
Even the grim reaper, batwoman, and a princess were in attendance. Kids, parents and even board members dressed up for the fun.
Everyone enjoyed the popcorn, pizza, doughnuts, cookies, and other delectables provided by the Switzkill Valley Volunteers. Many thanks to Price Chopper and Dunkin’ Donuts for their support.
The craft tables in the great room of the lodge were popular attractions as were the outdoor games, such as lawn bowling, hula hoops, and a bean-bag toss all located on the front lawn
It was a spectacular autumn evening, clear and starlit. A highlight of the event was a haunted walk up to the shale pit for a spooky Halloween story read by Karen Schimmer next to the bonfire.
Overhead, the Big Dipper looking down on a cadre of monsters, animal-like critters, and just plain moms and dads enjoying the evening in the darkness by the light of the fire.
Jay Becker provided a hayride shuttle from the parking lot to the lodge so we didn’t lose anyone in the darkness.Check out the Switzkill Farm Facebook page for lots of photos of this fun event.
The Switzkill Farm Board wishes to thank all those who participated in organizing the evening and all those who attended. We all had a great time.
