Cheer for Helderberg Valley in the first-ever Friday-night game under the lights at BKW
To the Editor:
Earlier this autumn, Hilltown residents were treated to the first high school football game at Berne-Knox-Westerlo in over 60 years. The 2016 season for Helderberg Valley Football (a joint program between Duanesburg and BKW School Districts) launched its season debut in front of a large and excited hometown crowd, and, despite a loss, the event was a huge success for the program and our community.
The regular season ended on a strong note with two wins (against Salem and Ft. Edward) and one last-minute loss (against Rensselaer), showing how well the team has developed throughout the season.
This Friday, another milestone event is scheduled — the first-ever Friday-night game under the lights on Helderberg Valley's home field at BKW. I strongly urge our residents, and especially the faculty members from both Duanesburg and BKW, to attend the game and cheer on these young men and their coaches who have worked so hard this season.
It will also be the final home game for the seniors on the team, and a fitting way for our community and both schools to show them our appreciation.
Please come out and support Helderberg Valley Football at BKW on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.
