Berne benefits from Clerk Clayton’s depth and breadth of experience

To the Editor:

I write to you today to express my enthusiastic support for the re-election of our Berne town clerk, Anita Clayton.

Anita is a highly qualified, well-informed, and skilled professional — always cheerful and receptive to new ideas. Anita’s commitment to continuing professional education ensures that she remains current on the strict laws and ever-changing rules and regulations that directly affect the town.

Her willingness to schedule evening appointments for marriage-license applicants and to meet with residents at their homes to notarize documents is evidence of her service-oriented approach to the position and is very much appreciated by her constituents.

The office of the town clerk serves as a direct link between the residents and their local governments. Anita’s openness to constituent concerns and her ability to faithfully represent them, while at the same time clearly interpreting rules, codes, and regulations speaks to her ability to deftly balance the demands of this role.

Anita has demonstrated her dedication to the community during the past 12 years, serving as town clerk for four years and deputy town clerk for eight. The town of Berne has benefited greatly and will continue to benefit, from Anita’s depth and breadth of experience.

Please join me in supporting Anita Clayton and al of the candidates on the Democratic team by voting Row A on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Pat Favreau

Berne

Editor’s note: Pat Favreau, now retired, was the long-time Democratic Berne town clerk. Anita Clayton was her deputy.
