To the Editor:
I believe the town of New Scotland is poised to lead the Capital District as one of the premier communities to live in. Several years ago, I had a vision to develop certain areas of the town to bring much needed local small business.

After a productive exchange with the planning board, we were able to get our retail project, The Grove at Maple Point, approved. Since then, we suffered a few setbacks — as have we all — but I’m happy to say the project is underway.

I have been working closely with the town and Supervisor Doug LaGrange who has been instrumental in the process and has shared a common vision of local, sustainable small business. 

For years, the town of New Scotland had a reputation of being difficult to get any development approved — and perhaps rightly so after the big-box debate; however, some of us continued to believe that development could be done responsibly in cooperation with this local government.

I must say that Supervisor LaGrange and the town board have done a phenomenal job of furthering the expansion of small business in the community through responsible zoning. By working with the supervisor, Jeremy Cramer in the building department, and Adam Greenberg and Dan Leinung on the board, it has given us the confidence to move forward with further development — which will ultimately benefit every member of this wonderful community.
