Attend BKW meetings, let your voice be heard

To the Editor:

This is an appeal to the members of the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District to support our community by attending school board meetings. It seems like this plea has been made to every school district since the dawn of time: Not going to these meetings is apparently universal.

Yes, they can be long and, yes, many of us don’t have hours of spare time. But there is so much at stake: our children, our well-being, and, Lord knows, our tax dollars. We need to make the time. Our opinions matter.

The meetings are usually held at 7 p.m. on Mondays in the BKW high school gym but it’s best to make sure. The best website to check for the schedule is www.bkwschools.org/board-of-education/meetings and the best phone number to call is (518)-872 5102. (This is the direct line to the District Board Clerk who will answer questions or direct you to the right person to contact.)

The school district has a new notification system called Blackboard Connect and you might consider signing up for an account. You can do this through the BKW website.

Get involved. Get informed. Let your voice be heard.
