Altamont Enterprise September 29, 1916
VOORHEESVILLE.
—The members of the Bay View club and their friends enjoyed a corn roast Saturday evening.
—Remember the dance tomorrow (Saturday) night. O’Neil’s famous banjo orchestra will play.
—Last Thursday evening a very enjoyable supper was served to about 300 people. A large sum was realized and the affair was a social and financial success. The idea is to raise a sum of money for the erection of a Catholic church in Voorheesville. Already the Comstock property has been purchased and the ground will be blessed next Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock.
BERNE.
Prof. A. D. Lane of New York, who just closed a very successful singing class at Rensselaerville, is now at Berne and is desirous of starting a singing class here. He will give a free lesson in note reading, voice culture and chorus work on Monday evening of next week, at 8 o’clock promptly, and is anxious to meet as many as possible so that they may see his work. It would be well for every young person, as well as the older ones, to avail themselves of this opportunity. Remember, it is free and is for all ages.
VILLAGE NOTES.
—Floyd Bellinger is driving a new six cylinder passenger Oakland car. Charles Vroman has a new 1917 Ford.
—Mrs. Robert Smith of Middleburgh, a former resident of Altamont, in renewing her subscription to the Enterprise, contributes a little poem which expresses her appreciation of her old home paper:
A glance at the calendar helps me to remember
My subscription expired the first of September;
Time has glided swiftly and I now realize
That soon I’ll be minus the Enterprise
Unless I make haste in sending to you
The money check which is you due,
As I can’t do without the chic little paper;
I hope you’ll excuse my delaying till later.
