Angelo is one of us

To the Editor:

Angelo Santabarbara (our assemblyman) cares about nurses and patients and supports the New York Safe Staffing Act that puts our vulnerable patients first over corporate greed and profit. (What a novel idea!)

He actively stands with nurses, health-care workers, and patients and verbally took a stand in the Assembly on our behalf. Thank you, Angelo, from the bottom of my heart!

Additionally, Angelo stands with local farmers and listens to their needs in New York and actively pursues avenues to help New York family farms feed New Yorkers healthy food grown here and not imported from China.

He has taken a very vocal and active stand against the cable TV companies, National Grid, and the propane companies who have a monopoly on the market and are squeezing us for every penny we will ever make.

He stood with General Electric retirees when G.E. tried to screw them. He stopped a sewage company from destroying our environment and health. He cut our taxes and extended the property tax cap.

Finally (and this is not inclusive!), Angelo defends the least among us — not with talk, but action creating history by enacting New York’s first Autism Advisory Board and formulating a plan that provides training to the police and first responders in how to help these children and adults.

Also he arranged early screening so all kids can get quickly needed help to battle this disability and lead a rewarding and full life!

In a government filled with corruption and special-interest lobbying and payoffs, Angelo is one of us. He’s tired of seeing an ineffective and self-serving government.

He is our voice and he’s not afraid to take a stand. He’s the voice of the common woman and man here in the Capital Region.

He’s pretty much my hero! Thanks, Angelo!
