Church is to glorify God

To the Editor:

After reading letters to the editor in response to your Aug. 11 story, “Empty pews,” I’m not surprised of the small church attendances.

The church is formed to glorify God, first and foremost, with great emphasis upon teaching the Word of God to show compassion, comfort and love to others, not to be a playground of entertainment! Thus, the death of a church.

I was so happy to read the letter from Jim Hilton as my family often attended Bethany Lutheran Church in Central Bridge where he was the pastor for many years. Thanks, Jim.
