VOORHEESVILLE
— The local grammar school was closed Thursday in order that the pupils might attend the Albany-Schenectady county fair at Altamont.
— Robert T. Coughtry is receiving contributions for the Japan relief fund during this week. All members of the Presbyterian church and congregation or any one wishing to contribute to this cause may hand their contribution to Mr. Coughtry.
— Louis Meinhold is touring the apple sections in this region during this week and will leave for his future home in New York next week. Mr. Meinhold has made many friends during his stay in Voorheesville, all of whom wish him success for the future. Louis Meinhold, superintendent of the Duffy-Mott company, Inc., has accepted a position as an executive officer of the company, whose headquarters are in New York City. Those familiar with the inside conditions of the local cider plant all acknowledge a marked improvement during the past year.
— Village health physician, Dr. Alden M. Oliver, advises all the village inhabitants to boil all water used while the new water system is under construction.
GUILDERLAND CENTER
Millard Crounse of Guilderland Center, Artistic Tenor, will sing at Proctors Theatre Monday evening, 8 o’clock September the 24th at Schenectady, N. Y.
DELANSON
— The tax list and warrant of school district No. 1 of the town of Duanesburgh, county of Schenectady, is now in the hands of the collector, Arrietta M. Hyney. Taxes will be received for one month at one per cent, after which five per cent will be charged; so hustle up and save money.
— James Becker, real estate dealer of Schenectady, had the misfortune to have his Franklin sedan burn on the road Sunday noon between William Tiffany’s and Abram Ball’s summer home, on the road known as the Western Turnpike.

The net receipts from the clam bake of the Federated churches was $266.08.
CLARKSVILLE
D. L. Woodward attended a meeting of the Bee Keeper’s Association held at the Barnes hotel, Amsterdam on Tuesday. The meeting was held to arrange plans for a honey exhibit at the National Fruit Show, held in Grand Central Palace, New York, Nov. 3rd and 10th.
BERNE
The Berne branch of the Red Cross raised $150.50 for the Japanese Relief. This surely was a worthy cause and thanks are due all who contributed.
MARIAVILLE
— There have been killing frosts for several mornings.
— There were quite a few flurries of snow Sunday night.
— Quite a few from here are attending the Altamont Fair this week.
SLINGERLANDS
Several patrons who purchased pans and plates containing foodstuffs at the recent community fair have failed to return these utensils. Housewives are asked to look around and see if they have any of these plates or pans in their possession and to kindly return same to Mrs. C. M. Griswold, who will see that they are given to the owners.
