To the Editor:
My husband and I live on 23 acres of fenced property on the top of West Mountain in Berne surrounded by all kinds of wildlife, coyotes included.
In over 20 years, we have learned to live together with all of them.
We had beavers moving into our pond, does giving birth to their fawns in our backyard, bears trying to get to the bird food, skunks invited by the smell of chicken food, and many more.
Over the last year, we, too, noticed increased coyote activity in neighboring Partridge Run. Sometimes the howling is scary.
But it is also fascinating. At least to us who came here from Central Europe where there are no coyotes.
We love hearing them howl.
