Here’s a way to help hurricane victims

To the Editor:

We all are concerned for the victims of hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Many of us know residents affected by these disastrous storms. It is frustrating to feel helpless.

Here’s one opportunity to help. Helderberg Lutheran Church in Berne is holding a community breakfast for hurricane relief. It is a free-will donation, all-you-can-eat breakfast, with pancakes, eggs, French toast, sausage, bacon, home fries, sausage gravy, biscuits, toast, juice, and coffee.

All funds collected will be sent to Lutheran Disaster Response.

LDR works in coordination with local officials to assess needs and provide products and services in an organized, orderly fashion. They help with cleanup, construction, emotional support, and more. LDR is there for the long haul, long after crisis mode is over.

Helderberg Lutheran Church is located at 1728 Helderberg Trail in Berne, next to the Berne-Knox-Westerlo high school. The breakfast is Saturday, Sept. 23, from 8 a.m. to noon. Call Pastor Wendy Cook at (518) 872-1443 if you have questions. Thank you for your support.
