Will Horton celebrates his 90th birthday.

To the Editor:

On Friday, Sept. 7, approximately 60 friends and family of long-time New Salem resident (Winnie) Will Horton gathered at the Voorheesville American Legion Post 1493 to celebrate his 90th birthday.

Those in attendance were his two sons along with many nephews and nieces, and his bowling and golfing friends who all came out for an evening of fun with photos of him over the last few decades and accompanying stories of his golfing, fishing, and hunting exploits.

Some very short speeches by the guest of honor and others were accompanied by his heartfelt karaoke singing. Some great food and refreshments were provided for all and a well-planned evening kept everyone entertained for several hours.

Thanks to all who came out to be with this always-happy and ever-active man of many tales. Not surprisingly, he finished the party with talk of how to do it again for his 100th!
