Hudson Valley Community College Awards and Achievements

These local students have recently distinguished themselves:

— Victoria Guzzo of Schenectady, who is studying in the Individual Studies academic program. Guzzo received the Award for Academic Excellence in General Biology which is given to a student who has shown particular academic excellence in his or her study of general biology.

— Ashleigh Huber of Altamont, who is studying in the Dental Hygiene academic program. Huber received the Colgate Student Total Achievement Recognition Award which is awarded to a senior Dental Hygiene student who demonstrated dedication to the profession of dental hygiene, exhibited compassion in patient care and displayed enthusiasm during the community service portion of their studies.

— Luke Mara of Delmar, who is studying in the Criminal Justice academic program. Mara received the Paul N. Luther Memorial Scholarship which is given to an outstanding graduate from the college's Criminal Justice program.

— Holden Maynard of Schenectady, who is studying in the Exercise Science academic program. Maynard received the Sage Transfer Excellence Scholarship which is given by the Sage Colleges to an outstanding transfer student from Hudson Valley Community College.

— David Randoll of Schenectady, who is studying in the Computer Information Systems academic program. Randoll received the RPI Award for Excellence which is a merit-based award provided to the top student transferring into a non-engineering program at RPI from two-year affiliated colleges and universities.

— Eric Segerstrom of Delmar, who is studying in the Engineering Science academic program. Segerstrom received the RPI Joseph H. Smith Jr. '45 Award which is given to the most outstanding student in the engineering science program at one of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's affiliated community colleges. Generally, the award which is presented to the qualifying transfer student with the highest cumulative grade point average.

— Jill Sharp of Westerlo, who is studying in the Chemical Dependency Counseling academic program. Sharp received the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Professional Service and Values in Chemical Dependency Counseling which is given to a student from the graduating class who shows outstanding character and professional values related to the Chemical Dependency Counseling field.

— Laura Stella of Slingerlands, who is studying in the Biotechnology academic program. Stella received the Award for Academic Excellence in Molecular DNA Techniques , which is given to a Biotechnology student who has shown high academic achievement in molecular DNA techniques, and the Award for Academic Achievement in Analytical Chemistry, which is given to a student who has shown academic excellence in the area of analytical chemistry.

— Emma Zelenak of Berne, who is studying in the Criminal Justice academic program. Zelenak received the Paul N. Luther Memorial Scholarship which is given to an outstanding graduate from the college's Criminal Justice program.
