New exhibit honors Clarksville residents who served in the military

To the Editor:

The Clarksville Historical Society has a new exhibit at the former Superior Oil Building located at the corner of Route 443 and Tarrytown Road in Clarksville. The exhibit will be open on Sundays, Sept. 7 and 21, from 2 to 4 p.m.

This exhibit honors the residents of Clarksville who served in the military. The exhibit also includes a register of those who served in the Civil War.

We are excited to include an original Patroon Indenture for property in Onesquethaw and a 1767 survey map of Albany County. These rare and beautifully framed documents were recently generously donated to our collection.

Also included is a photo display of the history of farming in our area as well as other activities of the past.

We ask if anyone has a photo of a relative who enlisted in the military who is not represented by one of the banners displayed in town, we would like to have a copy for our display.

We are constantly updating our photo collection for future exhibits. Our historical society can only stay alive with the community’s interest and support.
