Community Caregivers to honor volunteers at drive-through luncheon

GUILDERLAND — Community Caregivers, a Guilderland based not-for-profit, will be hosting a volunteer appreciation event on Sept. 16 at the Altamont fairgrounds.

Community Caregiver volunteers will be treated to a bagged lunch and a token of appreciation as they drive through the designated area. This event is in place of a sit-down luncheon that was scheduled for April but was postponed due to COVID-19 health restrictions.

“We’re excited about this celebration and hope all our volunteers will take part,” said Executive Director Lee Lounsbury in a release from Community Caregivers. “After all, they are the reason we are able to continue our efforts to help seniors and others live independently and safely within our communities. It’s our way of saying, ‘thank you’ for all they’ve done — especially during these difficult and trying times.”

Attendees are asked to remain in their cars at all times and to practice safety precautions, including the wearing of masks. If you are a Community Caregivers volunteer and would like to participate or are interested in learning more about the organization and its services, please call 518-456-2898, email , or visit www.communitycaregivers.org.
