Guilderland needs further development to compete

To the Editor:

On the issue of building a Costco, I believe that the Guilderland community needs this further development to compete with other neighborhoods and cities in the Capital Region.

In this economic climate, why would we give up the chance to have a large, well-known, hugely requested business right here in our neighborhood?

If the town passes on this opportunity, Costco will most likely look at other areas like Colonie, Latham, Saratoga, etc. We need the sales tax and the jobs to stay right here in Guilderland.

Guilderland

Editor’s note: Albany County distributes sales tax to municipalities based on population. So, if Costco were to be built in, say, Colonie or Latham, Guilderland would get the same share of sales tax as if it were built in town.
