Panic and anxiety are real and they attack your brain in mysterious ways
To the Editor:
In response to Frank L. Palmeri’s column, printed on Thursday, July 3, 2025 concerning panic attacks, I was pleased that Frank shared his experience and knowledge, as I, like many others, have lived with anxiety and panic episodes.
My panic attacks occurred many years ago while driving, waiting in lines, and sitting in large auditoriums. Those feelings occurred for no reason at all, but through years of psychotherapy and relaxation exercises I was able to conquer my fear of everything except driving on four-lane highways and expressways.
Panic and anxiety are real and they attack your brain in mysterious ways. I always enjoyed driving and could go anywhere. Now I depend on others to go certain places, but I’m thankful to live a normal life.
Thank you, Frank, for sharing your experience, as I’m sure many who read this column will identify with your anxiety. Best of luck on your next flight!
