Golf tourney set for Oct. 3

The fifth annual Wyatt Spencer Memorial – Berne-Knox-Westerlo Class of 2014 Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Colonie Country Club.

The tournament raises funds for scholarships for BKW students. This year’s winners, receiving $2,500 each, are Lukus Becker who is at Utica College studying to be a veterinarian, and Caleigh-Shea Murphy who is majoring in chemistry at the State University of New York College at Oneonta to become a research scientist.

The scholarship is in memory of James Wyatt Spencer who died on May 28, 2009 at age 13 in a utility vehicle accident. He was the only and adored child of James and Bonnie Spencer of Knox.

The club is at 141 Maple Rd. in New Scotland. Registration is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m.

A dinner will follow the tournament with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. in the clubhouse.

Pre-registration is required by Sept. 18. Each player pays $125; non-golfers pay $40 for dinner.
