Free Ice Cream Social to benefit food pantry

To the Editor:

Everyone is invited to a free Ice Cream Social on Thursday evening, Aug. 22, at Orsini Park in Altamont, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. St. John's Lutheran Church youth are presenting the event and hope to collect food for the Altamont Food Pantry as well.

The rain date is Thursday, Aug. 29. Water, brownies, and activities for the children will also be available.

The Altamont Food Pantry needs food like peanut butter, tuna, macaroni and cheese, jarred sauce, granola bars, pudding, jello and toiletries like shampoo, razors, deodorant and shaving cream. It serves people in Altamont, Guilderland Center, and the surrounding area.

I hope to see you there and bring a food item and a friend!
