An embarrassing measure of growth

To the Editor:

OK, so you are trying to make it look like sales tax is indicative of growth [“State comptroller: Sales-tax collections still increasing,” The Altamont Enterprise, Aug. 3, 2022].

Not true. With inflation and the increased cost for almost all commodities, tax collections only show we are paying more for everything.

Really not a true measure! An embarrassing measure of growth. Shameful to me.
