To the Editor:

Congratulations and thank you to all those involved in Westerlo’s Summer Recreation Program last week. The efforts of many individuals led to the success of the program.

Thanks in particular to Chris Smith and the Albany County Legislature for providing the initial seed money, and to Councilman Joe Boone who did much work to secure additional funding and to get the program staffed, advertised, and up and running on short notice. Additional thanks to Hannay Reels for their support, and to Roy Quick and Jody Ostrander for donating archery equipment.

It has been a long while since Westerlo offered such a program, and it was well attended and enjoyed by the kids. I hope the good community spirit engendered by the program will serve as an impetus for more activities and programs in our town in the future.
