We would like to thank the Berne Volunteer Fire Company for its quick response to the fire at our house at 1747 Helderberg Trail last Monday. We also thank the East Berne Volunteer Company for its support in fighting the fire.

Berne is very lucky to have such a strong cadre of volunteers taking care of our community. We appreciate their service.

Editor’s note: Zenie Gladieux told The Enterprise on Tuesday that a fire at the home of her grandson — Cal Richmond-Gladieux — occurred last Monday in the bathroom due to an electrical issue with an exhaust fan. She said that the Berne and East Berne fire departments responded quickly to the Helderberg Trail home to put out the blaze. The house still stands but there is some structural damage and smoke damage, she said.
