NEW SALEM
Many of our residents are taking advantage of the church vacation and are enjoying motor trips to various places, inviting along those who have no autos. On Sunday last the Ruso family and Henry Smith motored through Hudson, Lenox, Pittsfield, Mt. Lebanon, and called on Sarah Gallup at the North family of Shakers.

EAST BERNE, SUNNYSIDE

Jay Engle of Warner’s Lake was severely burned about the hands last Sunday. A new gasoline stove which was used in the store caught fire, and Mr. Engle, realizing the danger, carried the stove outside and in doing so received painful injuries. A nurse was nearby and dressed the wounds and a doctor was called.

DELANSON

A committee of the village board were about the village on Wednesday locating places for the new fire hydrants that are to be installed at an early date. The residents will welcome this additional improvement for fire protection.

Barn Dance

Miss Mary Wasson and Miss Jane Wasson entertained with a barn dance Saturday evening, for members of the younger set of the summer colony. The barn was elaborately decorated with evergreen, wild carrot, golden rod and yellow festoons. The dancers presented a pretty sight with their picturesque fancy dress costumes. Refreshments were served after the dancing.

— Quite a hail storm occurred here Monday. Some damage was done to crops.

BERNE

The first annual reunion of the Sholtes family was held at the Sholtes homestead on Saturday, July 29. The day was an ideal one and every member of the immediate family was present.

CLARKSVILLE

While Floyd Waters and friend were motoring out to Pleasant View, a Ford speedster operated by Mr. Fable of Menands collided with them, forcing them off the road in front of M. J. Earl’s residence in Clarksville and wrecking their coupe against the rocks of the cut. Repairs were made at Stott’s Garage. No casualties. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Latta motored them back to Albany in the evening.
