Robert L. LeBuis
Robert L. LeBuis, an Army veteran who managed radar programs at General Electric, was active in many community organizations.
He lived in Barneveld in Oneida County in central New York and died on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare. He was 83.
Mr. LeBuis was born on June 6 in Albany, a son of the late Leo and Doris (née Filkins) LeBuis. He was educated at Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School, and later at Utica College.
“Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army,” his family wrote in a tribute. He was united in marriage to Roberta Stevens in 1958, in Westerlo.
Mr. LeBuis worked at General Electric, in Utica, retiring as general manager of radar programs, in 1994. He was a member and an elder of South Trenton Presbyterian Church.
He was an active member of many organizations, including: Believe 271; the Barneveld Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as the captain and treasurer and in the fire police; the Holland Patent American Legion Leon R. Roberts Post 161; the Elfun Society; the Town of Trenton Adopt a Platoon for the aid of troops overseas; the International Association of Lions Clubs in Holland Patent where he served as the treasurer for a number of years; the Glass Hill Golf Club where he served on the board of directors; and Fairchild Cemetery where he was the caretaker for a number of years.

Robert L. LeBuis is survived by his beloved wife, Roberta LeBuis; his sons, Jeffrey LeBuis and his wife, Bonnie, Joseph LeBuis and his wife, Laurie, and Jerrold LeBuis and his wife, Jessica; his grandchildren, Garret, Maxwell, Devin, Connor, and Morgan; and his great-grandchildren, John and James.
He is also survived by his brothers, Donald LeBuis and his wife, Donna, and Dennis LeBuis and his wife, Debbie; his many nieces and nephews; his brothers-in-law, Merritt Chamberlain, Dennis Cummings, and Dennis Boomhower; and his sister-in-law, Carol Stevens.
His sisters, Janice Bassler, Diane Chamberlain, Marlene Boomhower, and Charis Cummings, died before him, as did his brother-in-law, William Stevens Jr.
“Also surviving are countless community friends, including from Adirondack Lanes, and all of the organizations to which he was involved,” his family wrote, adding, “The family gratefully acknowledges the wonderful care provided from his home health aides.”
Calling hours are Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Dimbleby Funeral Homes Inc. at 40 Main St. in Whitesboro. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Susan Solomon officiating. Interment will follow in Olden Barneveld Cemetery.
