To the Editor:
After the ATV fiasco this past winter when Berne residents in large numbers spoke out against the intentions of the town board and saw how offensive the town supervisor can be, I thought the Berne Democratic Committee was presented with a golden opportunity to take open seats in town government this November.

Instead, they are following their incomprehensible strategy last year of not putting any Democrats on the ballot yet again this year. Somehow they think waiting to field candidates until 2025 is a winning path.

The committee’s total lack of political smarts is nothing short of breathtaking and a total disservice to registered Democrats in Berne. Let’s hope a write-in candidate comes forward to thwart offering a silver platter to the Republican slate.
