Over 50 visitors came to 50th anniversary celebration of Berne Museum

To the Editor:

The Berne Historical Society celebrated its 50th anniversary of the Berne Museum on Sunday, July 21, with an ice cream social, tours of the museum, door prizes, music, and DVD viewings of 1950 - 1951 scenes.

The society extends a huge thank-you to those who helped make this Berne event happen. For the DVD video, we have Walter Galicki to thank. For the DVD player, thanks go to Kristin.

Other thank-you’s go to those from the community and from outside the Berne community who took time to share their time with us. A big thank-you to the generous visitors who added to our donation jar.

And the volunteers who stepped up to help the day flow. Chuck Conklin, who sparked the idea to have an ice cream social, kept track of the welcome table. Chuck Batcher scooped ice cream to over 50 visitors.

Kathy Stempel guided people through the rooms of history and Brian Stempel provided music in spots throughout the day. Much appreciation goes to the clean-up crew, Jim, Brian and Chuck.

Hearing comments like: “Wow, I never knew this was here” and “We should have this kind of event annually” and “You have so many interesting items in your rooms,” added to the memories of celebrating the great work done by the founders of the Berne Historical Society and Museum.

See you on the history trail!
