GUILDERLAND — John V. Zyniecki, husband to Jill Zyniecki, died peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 66.

He was born on Nov. 9, 1957, in Albany to Edward C. Zyniecki Jr. and Leota Zyniecki. 

“John attended Guilderland High School, then worked for 44 years at KeyBank before he retired,” his family wrote in a tribute. “He was a co-owner of Edleez Tobacco, a family business founded by his parents in 1981.

“John was a family man who loved traveling with his wife and two children. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and sharing his harvest with family, friends, and neighbors.

“In the last months of his life, John cherished precious moments with his family. He was overjoyed and filled with pride and anticipation to become a grandfather, a memory that will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.”

John V. Zyniecki is survived by his wife, Jill Zyniecki, of Albany; his son, Reid Zyniecki, and his wife, Skyler, of Albany; his daughter, Jennifer Zyniecki of Albany; and granddaughter, Saylor Zyniecki of Albany.

He is also survived by his siblings, Thomas Zyniecki and his wife, Joyce, of Warrensburg, New York; Ann Mackey of Hingham, Massachusetts; Pamela Kuczenski of Guilderland; Edward Zyniecki and his wife, Judy, of Bigfork, Montana; James Zyniecki and his wife, Dawn, of Altamont; and Janet Ruprecht of Woodbridge, Connecticut.

He is survived, too, by many nieces and nephews, as well as cousins in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

His parents, Edward C. Zyniecki Jr. and Leota Zyniecki, died before him, as did his brothers-in-law, Daniel Kaltenbach, John Ruprecht, and Thomas Kuczenski.

Friends and family may call on Tuesday, July 30, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church at 20 Sumter Ave. in Guilderland; a Mass will follow at Christ the King Church. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery at 2167 Western Ave. in Guilderland.
