ALTAMONT — Wayne Robert Lennebacker, a photographer and teacher of photography, died on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. He was 78.

He was born in Ilion, New York and grew up in Cooperstown. He had a long career in photography; was on the faculty of the art department of the University at Albany and worked at General Electric and CR&D as a corporate photographer. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol; by his daughters, Larisa, and Jennifer and her husband, Brendan; and by and his seven grandchildren, Garrett, Drew, Bridget, Julia, Ryan, Lauren, and MaryGrace.

His parents died before him as did his brother, Jack.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 21, at 5 p.m. at Altamont Reformed Church at 129 Lincoln Ave. in Altamont.

  • Stephen William Freihofer worked in the family business, the Freihofer Baking Company, until it was sold at which point he fulfilled his dream of buying a motor home and taking his family on many trips.
