Berne Summerfest offers free fun, fireworks, and an open jam session

To the Editor:

The Fifth Annual Berne Summerfest will be Saturday, July 22, at the Berne Town Park on Route 443 beginning at 3 p.m. This day of music, fun, food and community is free and open to the public.

Music has been a highlight of the festival from the start, and this year is no exception. The day kicks off with Kilashandra, Irish with a twist of folk, blues, and rock, featuring outstanding vocals.

The “American Roots ’n’ Roll” of  the Lazy Suns is up next; their album, “Bar Hotel Music,” was a Best of 518 in several media outlets. We are excited this year to present the traditional dance and music of the TLC Country Cloggers accompanied by Tom White and Henry Lamont.

The Hilltown Ramblers then take the stage playing their “up home” brand of bluegrass followed by an open jam to which all musicians are invited. The Children’s Tent has been expanded to this year to included concerts by Andy “The Music Man” Morse as well as instrument-making, a drum circle, and games.

The evening is capped by off by fireworks at dusk. Information on the event is available at www.bernesummerfest.org. The rain date is Sunday, July 23.

Come and enjoy a fun-filled, entertaining day and evening at the Berne Summerfest.
