NEWS OF ALBANY AND 

SURROUNDING COUNTIES. 

— During the past week many men and boys have made application for farm work at the Albany County Farm Bureau office in Albany. Some have had experience and others have not. Some want a week’s work during their vacation. See Mr. Crittenden, the Bureau manager, if you can use one of them. 

— Schoharie has plans under way for a campaign to raise $5,000 to erect a monument in the Old Stone Fort yard as a memorial to the soldiers and sailors who gave their lives during the recent World war. 

TENNIS TOURNAMENT. 

The tennis fans of the village of Altamont are planning a tennis tournament. All persons wishing to participate will leave their names with Edwin Righter, together with their entry fee of 25 cents. Suitable prizes will be awarded.

VOORHEESVILLE. 

— The Grangers made $18 from their sale of ice cream at their social last Wednesday evening. 

— Mr. and Mrs. George Bell entertained on Sunday guests from Cambridge Valley. In the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Bell, with their friends, motored through the Helderbergs, which was a rare treat to their guests. It was their first view of the Helderberg mountains, and one long to be remembered. 

CLARKSVILLE. 

Quite a number in this village are entertaining boarders, who are glad to get out of the city. 

NORMANSVILLE. 

The two children of Henry Schnovbeck, who have had measles, have recovered. 

VILLAGE NOTES. 

— Many young people of the village are enjoying the bathing and dancing at Warner’s Lake. 

— The barn on the old Severson homestead on Helderberg avenue has been taken down and carted to Guilderland Center. Peter Jacobson was the purchaser, and he will have the barn erected on the site of the one which was destroyed by fire about a year ago. 

BERNE. 

Owing to the rainy weather the farmers are making slow progress harvesting their hay. It is a good crop in this section and help is very scarce.

    Chicken thieves visited the hen house of Francis Van Wormer and took twenty of his fowls and at Chester B. Crounse’s they took forty. 

    — The public school money apportioned to the town of Guilderland is nearly eight thousand dollars.
