G. Stephen Beals Sr.

ALBANY — G. Stephen Beals Sr., a teacher and school administrator, died on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. He was 83.

Born in North Hampton, Massachusetts, he was son of the late George C. and Susanne Beals.

Mr. Beals was employed by the Albany Public School System as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He was a teacher and an assistant principal at the Giffen Memorial School. Later, he became a principal at Public Schools 17 and 18 and of the night school program at Albany High School.

G. Stephen Beals Sr. is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary O’Toole Beals; his children, G. Stephen Beals Jr. and his wife, Lorraine; Christopher Beals, Maura Bellanger and her husband, Kevin; and Matthew Beals and his wife, Kellie. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Grant Beals, Bridget Bellanger, Maggie Bellanger, Michael Beals, and Emily Beals, and by his brother, Philip Beals and his wife, Dorothy.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Christ the King Church at 20 Sumter Ave. in Guilderland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 16, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by New Comer Funeral Home. The family gives a special thanks to the staff at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for loving care.
