To the Editor:
I often hear people say that one person can’t make a difference. You can’t change city hall.

I have to disagree. In history, many people have made a difference — small and large. Regardless of the scope of the difference we make, each effort is worthwhile.

I make a difference in my own small way. Whether or not it makes the New York Times front page is irrelevant. If I speak my opinion and say what I want to say, that is enough for me.

In 2008, I wrote a book that made less than a total of $100. I didn't write it to make money. I wrote it because I had a unique idea and I felt it needed to be said.

I have written multiple letters to the editor of this paper. I hope that my letters started some conversations about topics that I felt needed to be discussed. One of my ideas even made it to a newspaper in Connecticut!

I don’t think it's necessary for people to see a huge difference. Just use your talents to present a new idea.

How do you think all the ideas in history were started? It just takes one person to spark that change! You too can make a difference!

Here are ways to do so: Write a letter to the editor, join a group of people who think as you do, talk to your friends about a unique concept. If I can do it, so can you!
