CCE offers dog-training classes

VOORHEESVILLE — Cornell Cooperative Extension is offering a seven-week basic obedience class for owners and their dogs, with the opportunity for the dogs to be certified as canine good citizens by an American Kennel Club evaluator at the end of the course.

The classes will be held on Wednesdays from Aug. 9 to Sept. 20 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County offices at 24 Martin Rd. in Voorheesville.

Classes will be held from 6 to 6:45 p.m. for youth and from 7 to 7:45 p.m. for adults. The classes will focus on teaching the dogs basic manners, behavior modification, and socialization, while using positive reinforcement.

This program is open to both 4-H and non-4-H youth, as well as adults. The cost for 4-H members is $40; for non-members, $50; and for adults, $75. All funds will go toward furthering Albany County youth education and development programs.
