VOORHEESVILLE — Jean Anne Thompson DeVellis, who was quick to smile and make friends, died on Sunday, June 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 91.

“She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her,” her family wrote in a tribute.

She was born on Aug. 2, 1932. She was married to Frank DeVellis on Oct. 10, 1954. They were married for 46 years, and had two sons, Michael and James. She later worked at Blue Cross for much of her career.

“In her free time, Jean enjoyed camping, reading, watching her favorite soap operas, and jigsaw puzzles as well as being outdoors and sitting in her gazebo,” the tribute said. “She was quick to make friends everywhere she went and was always the first to offer a smile.

“She loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. Jean was very active throughout her life, including exercise classes at the YMCA and daily walks with her son, Jim.

“Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.”
