East Berne Post Office needs work
To the Editor:
I am writing again [“East Berne Post Office needs TLC,” July 15, 2022] about the East Berne Post Office.
Last year, I wrote and told you how bad the building was and the potholes [“East Berne Post Office potholes to be fixed soon,” The Altamont Enterprise, July 1, 2022].
I was told it would be taken care of. Well, nothing has been done.
Plus, the grass was not cut. I took photos of it but, over Memorial Day, someone cut the grass.
The place is falling apart, and cleanup needs to be done.

Editor’s note: United States Post Office spokesperson Paul Smith told The Enterprise, “It is my understanding the parking lot was fixed last year.” The East Berne postmaster — who declined to give her name citing post office policy, but is listed on the USPS website as Becky Plumb, who became postmaster in March of this year — also told The Enterprise that the parking lot holes were fixed and that the other repairs will “take time.” The former postmaster, George McClure, had told The Enterprise last year that repairs wouldn’t be immediate because “we’re in the wilderness out here.”
